Principal's Corner

It's Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Fall!!

Dear 146Q Families,

Welcome to November 2021.

Over the past few weeks we have been working with students to get them acclimated back to school and the classroom learning environment. We welcomed students back with open arms and we conducted several days in which our students were immersed in social emotional learning and activities. This work will continue throughout the school year across content areas to ensure that teachers and all staff members are connecting with students on a personal level.

I sent a letter home via Parent Square on 10/20/21 to inform you that will be completing an SEL Screener. Prioritizing the social-emotional wellness of our students, families, and staff is an essential component of a supportive school environment so every school will implement social-emotional learning (SEL) assessments as a means to check-in with students, assess student SEL competencies and provide data-driven tiered intervention services. If you have any questions about the SEL screener, please contact our SEL LEAD, Mrs. Amato.

We have begun the implementation of our new core programs for ELA. These programs, Into Reading and Into Literature are aligned to the culturally responsive goals that we have set. Students appreciate the diversity of the text that they are engaging with and how they reflect our society.

We had an anti-bullying and CRSE workshop for parents that took place on 10/28/21 and you can find the the video of the workshop in the resources section of Parent Square.

Our Halloween Parade was held on 10/29/21. It was wonderful that so many of you were able to join our students in 3K through grade 5 for the event. See parent Square for pictures.

Parent/Teacher conferences are set for 11/4/21 which will be an 11:30 dismissal for students.

Our Turkey Trot is set for November 5th. Check out our calendar on Parent Square to keep up with al of the happenings at our school!!!

We are off to a positive start with both students and parents sharing some good ideas to enhance our school community.
If you have any ideas we would love to hear them! On behalf of the administration and the entire 146 staff, we look forward to our continued positive partnership with our families!

Respectfully,
Ms. Keegan
